13:30 John Oaksey National Hunt Chase What a race this could be, some very exciting horses are contesting this Harry Topper out and Boston Bob looking unlikely to run, it looks like Rival D’Estruval will go off favourite in this. Rival D’Estruval has been given a little break since his last run in December, as he always runs well fresh. His last race beating Papamoa who has franked that win nicely. He looks very impressive, and looks to go on any ground. Godsmejudge also has a very good chance. His trainer Alan King thinks he is one of his best chances. Not sure if there was excuses for his poor performance in December, when 12 th to Rolling Aces, however he has done nothing wrong since.   Hawkes Point is said to be Paul Nicholls best outsiders chance of the Festival. He was a very close 2 nd to Opening Batsman in December. Which on that form does mean he is in with a shout. The ground should be no issue either. I think he has a great chance to win this. She has never been over this distance before, but her form has been much better than any of the others. Her main danger would be Shesa Bear, who was a very handy on the flat, but there is an 18lb weight difference, even with her 7lb penalty, and that would leave Shesa Bear a lot to do in my books.  The ground is fine and i think she will get the step up.

I am a fan of Goldmadchen, in fact i tipped her on her last win. Today she is well weighted, only 4lb penalty for her last win, but her record here is 1, 2, 1 and i have every confidence in her making that another 1 to add to her list. And a quick mention of Dun Masc, as he has fair form in Ireland, and although he didn't perform well last time out for his new stable, i wondered if it was too far. This drop in distance could be very useful and see him in contention, and 9/1 i thought was a nice price.

Also i think the drier ground might help a little. Lava Lamp will be dangerous, and he took advantage of a nice drop in the weights last time out, but for that win, he was put up 7lbs. he is still weighted, but i think my choice is slightly better and will go very well
