Frankel Frankel’s confirmed retirement from racing marks the end of an era. Although it is sad to see him go, we are now on the lookout for the next ‘Frankel’ another horse that will capture the heart of racing fans around the world.  This year’s 3 year olds held some promise. The leading contender of course was Camelot. Personally I was not a fan, but I could see the horse had class and was special, nowhere in the league of Frankel though. Unbeaten in his 2 races as a 2 year old, his 3 year old campaign started well winning the 2000 Guineas, then The Derby, followed by the Irish Derby in conditions that clearly didn’t like, he still showed his class and slogged it out at the finish. Camelot became favourite to win the St. Leger and complete the Triple Crown, which hadn’t been achieved since Nijinsky in 1970. It wasn’t to be.
