Al Jamal 3:10 Newmarket - Gabriels Lad 8/1 e/w Only been out of the first 3 once, the track will suit and although i think he might prefer some cut, i do not think the ground will be of issue. This track and distance suit and for 8/1 i think he is cracking value 3:25 Hamilton - Smoothtalkingrascal 5/2 (nap) I took note of him last time because he impressed me very much. Just couldn't get out and when he did he flew and just couldn't catch the winner. Hot Snap and What A Name At some point last year i backed Dawn Approach for the 2000 Guineas at 7/2 and also for The Derby at 8/1. At that point, i couldn't see any horse getting close to him. I even wondered if he could be another Frankel. Today i still think he is special, but now i am nervous. I am nervous for 2 reasons, one being that he hasn't had a run so far this year, not that in this race it matters, i mean look at Camelot last year. But the other reason comes in the form of Toronado. Toronado was originally seen as a Derby horse, but his run in the Craven was impressive, he comes into the race race fit, and Richard Hughes has said he will win the 200 Guineas. That makes me nervous. But also there are some very lively outsiders in the race. Garswood is one. There has been speculation to if he will see out the 1m, but Richard Fahey is another trainer that is very bullish this horse, and thinks that he does have a chance. There are 3 Aiden O'Brien horses. A few of the lads in the yard have backed him at 200-1. It's great for us to have a live outsider in a Classic. He ran a massive race in Ascot last year when he was drawn on the wrong side of the track, I was on my own and the first two were on the stands side so I'm hoping for a good run. The nicest ground he had was at Ascot and he was only beaten a length by Dawn Approach. I think he could win if back to his best. WLH is a horse i pointed out on his last run, for those of you that remember. It was his first run for Dandy Nicholls, and he had run in much higher classes. But recently had been run over 5 and 6 furlongs, even though it looked like 7f was a more suitable distance. He was coming back after a 7 months off the track. And he needed the run, he was shuffled to the back of the field at the start and i think although no close up that he lost his stride a bit and by then he was several lengths behind. Did catch up and was making some headway at the end just never got close
