  1st Gaboriot 11/2 - 55 2nd Mr Vango 4/1 - 40 3rd Monbeg Genius 12/1 - 35 3rd Roi Mage 28/1 - 35   As you can see, Gaboriot comes top by a little bit here. I have based this on soft ground because the rain is due and it's already g-s now. Gaboriot gets in at the bottom of the weights. He has been over this course 3 times now with a UR, 3, 2. That was the Foxhunters and the last 2 were the Grand Sefton, and that includes his last run. So he shows a liking for this course. All those were over 2m 5f though, i have been in this position before with a Colin Tizzard horse Ultragold, who won twice here over 2m 5f but they stepped him up to this race and he didn't stay, whereas this horse has been proven to stay further. So the fact he has won here over 2m 5f and is a winner over 4m, this 3m 2f should suit a lot better. Especially with the rain coming. His highest rating is 128 and runs off 124. 1st Aworkinprogress 13/8 - 60 2nd Makin'yourmindup 8/1 - 55 2nd Sporting Ace 22/1 - 55 3rd Minella Blueway 8/1 - 45   Aworkinprogress scored very well here, possibly partly because since chasing he is unbeaten. He won on his seasonal debut carrying a big weight and because of Stay Away Fay he actually carries a nice weight this time. He is improving all the time and the more rain the better, which will help for the main event at Christmas. Furthermore, he never wins by too much so he could potentially still be well handicapped. He has big claims. I think this will give us an indication of how he handles the track, as his target with be the Welsh National. Nassalam did the double of this, then the Welsh Nation in 2023! Makin'yourmindup is very similar to Aworkinprogress as in he stays well and he will want the rain to fall, although he has run well on better ground.   1st Moroder 20/1 - 70 2nd Puddlesinthepark 15/2 - 60 3rd Art Decco 5/1 - 50   Looking at Art Decco first as he was 2nd in this last year off 4lb lower, and he won over C&D in Feburary off the same mark. He will want the rain to fall here and the softer the better, he is a real mudlark. I also noticed that he seems to need his run back after a break with his stats being 7, 3, 2, 6. The 2 was in this race, and the 6 was back in October this year, so hopefully we will see an improved performance. He can run well here.  Puddlesinthepark seems quite versatile ground wise. My concern with him is the track, he has run at Exeter before and was well beaten, i'd normally not worry too much but his other stats point towards him being a much better horse going left handed and on flatter tracks, in 7 attempts on undulating tracks he has never won, although placed twice.
