Today will mark the end of an era when the book is closed on a glittering career of a horse that has captured a nation’s hearts. That horse goes by the name; Frankel. Frankel’s dam Kind, was a mare by Danehill, and his sire was the mighty Galileo who himself won 6 of his 8 races which included The English and Irish Derby’s.  Named after an American trainer who had one been described as “one of the most successful and respected trainers, in the history of thoroughbred racing."   Robert Julian Frankel. Frankel was always destined for great things. The bay colt, born the 11 th of February 2008, first stepped onto a racecourse at Newmarket in a 1 mile Maiden on the 13 th August 2010, the ground was soft that day, and he came up against another 2 year old that went by the name of Nathaniel, and Nathaniel is probably the closes any horse has come to ever beating Frankel, Frankel won by half a length that day.
