20/02/26 3:45 Exeter - The Devon National System
1st Largy Poet 5/1 - 55
2nd Art Decco 11/2 - 50
3rd Jubilee Express 11/4 - 45
3rd Gold Clermont 12/1 - 45
As you can see, this race is extremely close. Largy Poet just pipped it in the stats, which is a worry as he is top weight, luckily Paul Nicholls has employed the services of the very useful Freddie Keighley who claims a valuable 7lb. He is 2/2 at Exeter so thats a positive, he also won on heavy here which is helpful seeing as the conditions will be testing. His stats on heavy are 1, 1, 2. There are a lot of boxes ticked here, except this distance, but he looks like he needs a big stamina a test. The addition of blinkers for the first time is notable.
Art Decco won this last year, so we know conditions and distance are fine, along with the course. The biggest worry is that he is 6lb higher however, with Largy Poet in here, Art Decco gets to carry 1lb less than he did last year. Don't rule him out!
Jubilee Express loves soft but is 0/2 on heavy which is a little worry but not too bad as you cant make too many assumptions based on 2 runs on heavy. The stats don't scream out that this race will suit, if it dries out then yes, the distance is fine and the track should suit also.
Gold Clermont might run well here, we know she stays as she has come 4th in the Eider on heavy ground before, although she hasn't won going right-handed before, but then that is only 3 runs going right-handed. She does come her with a lovely low weight and she could run a nice race
My Selection: Largy Poet 5/1
