2nd Third TIme Lucki 10/1 - 70

3rd Prince Escalus 33/1 - 65 - reserve

4th Before Midnight 20/1 - 60


This is a race i had a horse and it was Third Time Lucki, so i am happy to see him here. Andy Dufresne had not come to my attention though. He carrries topweight which wont be easy but does have a tongue tie to assist him. He was 2nd in this last year off the same mark on heavy ground and that possibly is what found him out as he has 11st 11lb last year and carried 12st this year but it wont be as testing. He likes the track, he likes the ground, he has claims. 

Third Time Lucki is 2/2 over fences at Cheltenham including a Grade 2 Novice Chase. My only slight concern is that he wouldnt want it soft, but he is a 2 time winner on soft and can act in it. He gets the distance and likes Cheltenham, he has big claims. 

Prince Escalus is a reserve, but the ground shouldnt be an issue although he would prefer better ground, and the distance is fine. I am not sure how he scored so high, he probably needs to improve to be winning this, and thats why he is a reserve as his handicap is down the bottom. 

Before Midnight has headgear for the first time with a tongue tie, and if this helps then he has big claims. He is a C&D winner. I would worry he wants the going to be better but he has run ok on soft before. Could be a good ew bet.

  1st Mr Vango 7/1 - 55 2nd O'Connell 7/1 - 45 2nd Nassalam 22/1 - 45   3 horses on 40 - Haiti Couleurs, Monbeg Genius and Collectors Item. Mr Vango came clear here the rest were all very close indeed.  Mr Vango is so consistent he will stay all day, he jumps well, the ground will be fine, although he would probably prefer some rain. He has never been to Chepstow, but his stats suggest the track will not be an issue. The only slight negative would be the quick turn around from his last race.  O'Connell  is very similar to Mr Vango in that he stays, the ground in his case is perfect, my only negative is in 7 attempts he has not won going left-handed and only placed once. He definitely prefers right-handed tracks. If that doesn't inconvenience him, he will have a chance. Nassalam has not been the same horse of late. Since winning this race in 2023 he has only completed a race once in 6 tries, with 5 P's next to his name. It does mean because of that he has slipped...
