27/12/22 2:50 Chepstow - The Welsh National System

1st Wayfinder 25/1 - 70

2nd Fortescue 14/1 - 55

3rd Truckers Lodge 16/1 - 50

4th The Big Breakaway 11/1 - 45

A clear winner here, not as clear as Bravemansgame but still clear. Wayfinder has some good form, there is only one main negative and that is he can make a mistake and when he does, its normally bad enough to put him out the race. He also does need to find more, his only run at this level he pulled up. But he does have a lot of positives going for him. His Chepstow form is 1, 2, 1, 1, 1, PU. the PU was against similar competition. He has won twice on soft over 3m 2f and one was at Chepstow. albeit easier competition. Its tough as he certainly stays and you need a proven stayer. He carries a good weight as well.

Fortescue on the other had has a whole 12lb more than Wayfinder on his back and its going to rain. It wont be easy for him. In his favour is, he stays, and he loves soft and even heavy ground. He ran a great race last time ot come 4th over the National fences in the Becher. He ticks boxes, its just the weight, in races like this its very hard to carry so much that far. If he does you will have to be very impressed.

Truckers Lodge is a well known stayer, he came 3rd in this last year.. He has no issue with soft or heavy ground and is most importantly, his jockey Freddie Gingell is making waves in the sprot, but the race is run in memory of his mother, so this is really a race he will want to win. He also claims 7lb which will help a lot. He certainly has claims and to give Freddie a win in this race will probably mean the world to him.

The Big Breakaway also has family connections as Kim Gingell was Joe Tizzards sister, so he will be very happy to win this race as well. He unfortuantely has a eye watering weight to carry. He also needs to prove he stays but he wont mind the going and his seasonal debut was impressive, if he enjoys this marathon distance he has claims.

I am sticking to my system although the horse needs to find more and jump well. If not i would like Freddie Gingell win this race on Truckers Lodge

My Selection: Wayfinder 25/1
