07/04/22 4:05 Aintree - System
1st Le Breuil 20/1 - 60
2nd Cat Tiger 5/1 - 55
2nd Cousin Pascal 10/1 - 55
3rd Another Venture 33/1 - 50
You can see how close this is!! The favourite Jett scored 30, so not far off the top spots. This is over the National Fences so you know its a bit of a lottery, especially with horses jumping them for the first time.
Le Breuil wears a tongue tie for the first time. He ahs also tackled these fences a couple of times now with stats of 7, 3, PU. All 3 attempts were over 3m 2f in the Bechers, which is obviously a much tougher race than this, so this is easier, he steps back in trip and down in grade. his last race a Hunters Chase the average rating was 131 and here its 127. He was 3rd that day over 3m 2f. The drop down in trip is very interesting. I think they ground is fine too and it would not be a surpise to see him run well.
Cat Tiger put in a couple of good runs before being well beaten at Cheltenham. He is another with form over these fences though. He was 3rd in this race last year (behind Cousin Pascal and Latenightpass), then was 5th in the Grand Sefton in November. Ground will suit, and if he runs as well as he didbefore Cheltenham, he could go well
As mentioned Cousin Pascal beat Cat Tiger in this last year but he pulled up at Cheltenham in March. Like Cat Tiger he will need to bounce back from that run. But we know he goes well over these fences and the ground will suit.He has claims.
Another Venture is different from the others where he has never run here before, and i actually like that. He drops back in distance and he needs to step up on last runs but this course could inject enthusiasm back into him. He is definitely interesting
Its such a close race but i am happy to give Le Breuil a go and follow the system, but any of the named could go well. Its always been a tough race and can throw up all sorts of winners, including Cousin Pascal at 66/1 last year.
My Selection: Le Breuil 20/1
