02/04/22 3:35 Ayr - The Scottish Grand National System

1st Cool Mix 10/1 - 55

2nd Win My Wings 15/2 - 50

3rd Fantastikas 16/1 - 35

3rd The Ferry Master 10/1 - 35

As you can see we have 2 clear here, we did have another who scored 40 but Streets Of Doyen is now a non runner.

Cool Mix was 5th in this last year and only beaten 8L. He is 6lb lower in the handicap this year, but because of the opposition handicap ratings and jockey claims heonly carries 5lb less, but still thats 5lb less than last year over this marathon distance and he also wears a tongue tie for the first time, which over this trip you would hope makes a difference. He comes via Musselburgh which he did last year too, so same kind of prep here. He will like the ground, and he is a winner at Ayr over hurdles but not won here over fences yet. He could go well off a small weight.

Win My Wings actually stood out and i thought would come top here. She won the Eider last time out and is up a big 8lb for that. They are making use of the 7lb jockey claim here though, which will benefit her. The ground suits and i dont think she will mind it drying out. I also think she will like it around Ayr too, so all in all, if she runs up to her Eider form then she will have massive claims.

Fantastikas jumps up in trip here, after a decent enough run in the Ultima at Cheltenham. I think Ayr will suit well, but the weight would be a slight worry over this distance for the first time, but he is a nice strong horse.

The Ferry Master came in 3L in front of Cool Mix last year in this race, and i think there is an 8lb swing in the weights in favour of Cool Mix. But like Cool Mix they also reach for an aid, and this aid is Blinkers. If it works then he would have big claims here. The track is fine, we know he gets 4m. He could go very well.

The actual race is so competitive. There are several runners who havent gone this far before, so its difficult to assess when you are not sure if they will stay. Trainers wouldnt send them if they didnt think they would, for example Stormy Judge . Via Dolorosa interests me and with ground set to suit too, could go well. But as usual i will stick to my system although i would be happy with any of the top 4 named above

My Selection: Cool Mix 10/1
