27/12/21 2:50 Chepstow - The Welsh National - System

1st Secret Repireve 6/1 - 75

2nd Potters Corner 16/1 - 65

2nd Kimberlite Candy 33/1 - 65

3rd Mighty Thunder 14/1 - 55

4th Truckers Lodge 33/1 -50

There are 4 previous winners in this race but only 2 made it into the top here. Secret Repireve won it last year and Potters Corner the year before that. Native River scored 45, and Elegant Escape 30. A big difference between each previous winner. I think all runners in this race have benefitted for the fact that Native River is in the race, as it means they are carrying small weights.

Secret Repireve is 10lb higher than last year, but is carrying 13lb less thanks to Native Rivers inclusion. He is 3/3 at Chepstow, will love the ground and wouldnt mind it raining some more. We know he stays, and he is lighlty raced so could still improve. My only concern is that he hasnt raced for 352 days! On his season debuts he is 5 and fell. So its a slightl concern, but im sure he will be fit enough.

Potters Corner is a horse i have a micorshare in and obviously i want hi to do well. This race is always his aim. His stats at this track are 1, 1, 3, 1, 1. He won this 2 years ago and is 5lb below that win today. And with the jockeys claim etc as thats changed he is only actually 1lb better off than that win, HOWEVER, once again Native Rivers appearance means he is carrying 4lb less than his last win. He won on heavy that day but loves soft too. His last run at Cheltenham puts him in with a chance here.

Kimberlite Candy has also won at Chepstow in heavy ground over 3m, and i actually thought he ran very well for most the way on his seasonal debut at Aintree. We know he stays and loves soft ground, he has blinkers for the first time which may help. He is 10lb higher than his last win in a Grade 3, but he is carrying less weight than when winning that. You want a proven stayer and he is one.

Mighty Thunder is a Scottish National winner, and we know he stays and stays. He loves soft ground and he wont mind this track either. He has a great chance because once again Native River brings down his weight and is carryin 2lb less than winning over 4m 1f in soft conditions when winning the Edinburgh National. He has massive claims.

Truckers Lodge is another who wears blinkers for the first time, and he is a winner on the Midlands National in heavy ground so we know he stays and will love the ground. He is 9lb higher than that win, but with jockeys claim from his last run, he only claims 6lb more. He could go well.

Of the others i do like Ramses De Teillee, The Big Dog and Iwilldoit, but they didnt make it in, i would hope they could run well. The race is tough as anyone of these could win it. Native River is the class act in the race, he has a big weight though and it will be tough for him, he always runs his heart out though.I will stick with my system though as always

My Selection: Secret Reprieve 6/1
