This race in incredbibly close. I have included the 4th placed ones as Some Neck may not run as a reserve. But i will go through these and work out why the system liked them. Last year the System picked not out Tiger Roll to win and Magic Of Light at the then 125/1 to place and One For Arthur who came 6th. So i hope that if it doesnt get the winner that some of these can at least place because they are nice prices.

Shattered Love is a wonderful mare. She has only ever been to Aintree once and it was this meeting in the Bumper where she came 3rd.She is a Grade 1 winner and at her highest her rating reached 155, she is now rated 150. She has won at 3m but her runs over that including in the Irish National have not been great. But she comes here 4lb lower but actually only carrying 10st 7lb. She is so inconsistant and she has been running over all sorts of distances. She won a 2m 4f race by 10L on heavy and looked like she could stay, but then just misses out on a win in a 2m race. She ran well in the Mares chase at Cheltenham but was not quick enough for the 1st and 2nd. She jumps well though and has never fallen in her career which is a good sign. Its a complete lottery with her because you dont know if she will stay, but the same can be said about most runners here. So why not? The track will suit perfectly and maybe the fences will revitalise her like it did with her stable mate Tiger Roll. She has a very similar profile to Magic Of Light, in that she ran well over 2m 4f/5f up to 3m, Shattered Love is rated 1lb lower, they are conistant and good jumpers, and came to Aintree to race these fences for the first time.

Magic Of Light was famously 2nd to Tiger Roll in 2019. She was also beaten at Cheltenham before that race in 2019. And she was well behind Shattered Love at Cheltenham this year in the Mares Chase. My worry is she is 6lb higher than 2019.We know she jumps well, the distance, going and track are all positive. Coming back here she could run well. You know that if she stays out of trouble she could get around. Could be a nice bet.

Canelo is a winner in a Novice Chase here over 2m 4f. He is a Grade 23 winner over 3m 1f on soft, so there is no reason not to think he doesnt have a chance of staying. He is a good safe jumper too although he is lb below his career high, he carries a lovely weight, the ground is perfect, the track will suit, and he could go well if staying out of trouble.I actually though he scored higher than the other 2, but he was just under.

Lake View Lad is a horse i like a lot, im glad he scored well. He has first time cheekpieces here which is interesting as he isnt ungenuine. He won the Many Clouds Chase here in December after nearly a whole year off, it was impressive. I think he was quite harshly treated by the handicapper who put him up 8lb, and after a couple of poor runs he has dropped 5lb. He tried this race in 2019 off 2lb lower, so it might be that the headgear will just keep him concentrating on whats ahead, he is a great jumper and that PU in the national was the only time in his whole career that he has failed to complete. I actually backed him last year, so it will be interesting to see how he gets on again. He was well beaten by Cloth Cap last time out and Cloth Cap is so much better off in the weights. Hopefully LVL will be closer this time.

Some Neck is a reserve but just needs one to come out and if they do i think he could run well here. He was 3rd in the Cross Country at Aintree so staying this National distance will be no issue. And he would be no back number if running to that form.

Of the others, there is no secret about Cloth Cap and his weight advantage. Ground and track should suit. Its obvious why he is so short and he has a big claim to this. Potters Corner is a Welsh National winner and a Midlands National winner and i do have a little share in him so i will be cheering him on, he stays all day, my only concern is that he will want the heavens to open and they wont. The blinkers could be helpful and if he wins i would be delighted.

I am going to stick with my system here, i do have a bet on Potters Corner as well. But i hope that the system has found the 2021 here in the top 5 or even the others named above, but its the top names i concentrate on and i hope they can run well at big prices. But let hope the girls can land the spoils here

My Selection: Shattered Love 40/1 & Magic Of Light 20/1
