13/03/21 2:25 Sandown The Imperial Cup -System

1st Mack The Man 25/1 - 60

2nd Miranda 14/1 - 50

3rd One True King 9/1 - 45

3rd Mick Maestro 20/1 - 45

I must admit to being disappointed as the horse i like scored 35, but it is ultra competitive. 3 horses scored 40, Natural History, Eamon De Snoic and Malaya.

Seeing as Mack The Man is the outsider of the field i didnt know that at the time, and was quite shocked as he scored consistantly throughout. His form at Sandown is PU, 1. the pulled up was over 4 furlongs further and the 1 was in a Listed race on Good-soft ground off a rating of 115, today he is 128. He ran poorly last time out in a Grade 3, which is a similar level to this race. His stats at 2m exactly is 2, 1, 2, 2, his stats at half a furlong shorter is good too but anything above 2m is not good, apart from 1 where he was running well and brought down. It might be that the absolute limit to this horse is 2 miles. But my system likes him in this.

Miranda is top weight and has a very talented claimer on board. I have to admit he has it all to do. The highest rated horse in 23 years to win this was 138, and she is 146. However, here win in a Grade 2 last time out was very impressive though and she sets a high standard. The ground seems fine for here, and she wont mind any rain. She has run at Sandown before and came last of 8. I would not read much into that as first it was heavy ground and secondly, she might be a mare who needs here season debut.  She is 1, 8, 1, 1, over 2 miles. She has claims especially with her jockeys claim which i feel will make all the difference.

One True King is on a nice mark of 131. He is very consistant and a winner at 2 miles, the ground is fine. I do think he needs to step up but my system seemed to like him. He is only 6 and still seems to be improving. This will be interesting and he is being backed from 16/1 into 9/1 And 5-6 year olds tend to do well in the race with 15 of the last 23 winners being in that age range. Miranda is also in the age range.

Mick Maestro is rated 135, he is another consistant runner here. His last win he won by 15L and beaten Miss Heritage too, It seems madness that he is 20/1 and she is 25/1 in this. He is prone to a mistake or 2 and it will be crucial here not too if he wants a hand in the finish. His stats at 2 miles is 1, 3, 2, 4, 1.  His stats on Good-Soft are 1, 3, 1, F. He could run well

Any of these could be capable here, and this race does throw up a big priced winner. I will stick with Mack The Man. And hope this system has got it right

My Selection: Mack The Man 25/1
