11/07/20 3:50 Ascot - Heritage Handicp - System
1st Lahore 14/1 - 60
2nd Stone Of Destiny 7/1 - 55
2nd Mountain Peak 12/1 - 55
3rd Final Venture 22/1 - 45
Saaheq and Ornate both scored 40 and came 4th, i wanted to point them out too because when doing the system, they both especially Saaheq looked very good and i thought they would be in the top, even more surprised to see their prices. Both will like trip and going.
Lahore came top here though and he has top weight, but his jockeys claims helps here. He returned on his seasonal debut to win under similar conditions at Doncaster. He was put up a hefty 6lb for that win, then he disappointed last time out, but i feel that we may be able to ignore that run, mainly because it was on the AW, and he had run on the AW before and came last, so if he can recapture the form of his Doncaster run then he has every chance. Distance, going and track will all suit, the only worry is that he runs off his highest ever mark, but he is 1/1 with todays jockey. I think he has solid place claims at least.
Stone Of Destiny was last seen coming 6th in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot, which was a great effort. A horse who came behind him by a Length that day has since gone on to place at this level. He has been eased 1lb for that run. His last win came over C&D off 1lb higher, in fact this is slightly easier than that run. He certainly ticks a few boxes and could go well.
Mountain Peak i think was harsly treated by the handicapper, when putting him up 7lb for his win last time out. It was in a lower class than this so he needs a career best to win this, however he has has 2 good runs since the season began. The trip and going suit and he is a winner here also over C&D. He is not so obvious but he has been running well so if he continues to do so, he has place claims.
Final Venture is ultra consistant, and came 3rd in a much better race last time out, he is 10lb under his career high and at 8yo he proves he still has it. He was actually beaten a nose by Stone Of Destiny lastyear over C&D, and the weight is 1lb in Final Ventures favour today. Honestly cannot see why he is 22/1!! Paying 4 places, he has a chance of getting into those palces. Everything looks fine for him today. He hasnt won since Haydock 2017 off 9lb higher, but he hasnt run very many bad races at all, and i like his chances.
I will stick with my system - Mountain Peak would be the worry ew, but the other 3 all have big ew claims and i couldnt put you off any of them. Final Ventures prices is a mystery
My Selection: Lahore 14/1
