A very tight contest this race. I hope the system is right. The short favourite only scored 25 here and i would be inclined to go against it. 5lb higher than his last win, and this is a slightly tougher race. He is 3/3 at Wolverhampton though, so he should like it here. But off a career high mark. It will not be easy.

Duke Cosimo came 2nd in a claimer here just over a week ago, and was beaten just under a length by Alsvindar who is a 98 rated horse. His C&D stats are 3, 3, 1, 5 5, 7, 3, 2, 7, 2, 6, 1, 2. He has a great ew chance and based on his last race, possibly the horse to beat.

Epeius also has some good C&D form here. 3, 2, 1, 9, 3, 3, 6, 6, 6, 2, 3, 1, 1. his C&D with a visor fitted is 1, 1. He is 3lb higher than his last win where he beat Lucky Lodge by a neck. Lucky Lodge is 2lb better in the weights now. Lucky Lodge was also beaten by DC in the Claimer that Alsvindar won, he was well beaten by DC that day and i cannot see Lucky Lodge reversing the places.

Choice Encounter is now 1lb below his last winning mark and has claims. he has placed twice here over 1f shorter.

Athollblair Boy came a close 2nd in a much better race over C&D before not being beaten far in a race over 7f here last time out. On that form he is entitled to go close off the same mark.

  1st Mr Vango 7/1 - 55 2nd O'Connell 7/1 - 45 2nd Nassalam 22/1 - 45   3 horses on 40 - Haiti Couleurs, Monbeg Genius and Collectors Item. Mr Vango came clear here the rest were all very close indeed.  Mr Vango is so consistent he will stay all day, he jumps well, the ground will be fine, although he would probably prefer some rain. He has never been to Chepstow, but his stats suggest the track will not be an issue. The only slight negative would be the quick turn around from his last race.  O'Connell  is very similar to Mr Vango in that he stays, the ground in his case is perfect, my only negative is in 7 attempts he has not won going left-handed and only placed once. He definitely prefers right-handed tracks. If that doesn't inconvenience him, he will have a chance. Nassalam has not been the same horse of late. Since winning this race in 2023 he has only completed a race once in 6 tries, with 5 P's next to his name. It does mean because of that he has slipped...
