02/03/19 2:05 Newbury - System
1st The Last Samuri 6/1 - 65
2nd Shanroe Santos 10/1 - 55
3rd Abolitionist 7/2 - 45
4th Houblon Des Obeaux 16/1 - 40
The Last Samuri ran well last time out for his new yard, in fact the race was a lot tougher than today and he has big place claims at least based on his last run. I am guessing his ultimate aim is the National again, so whatever he does here will be a bonus. His stats at 3m 2f are 1, 1, 3, 2, 2, 4. He will love the going and his stats in March are 1, 1, 2, 3. Hopefully he will go well today, despite carrying top weight.
Shanroe Santos does need to fine more, he probably isnt up to the standard of The Last Samuri. But with the jcokeys claims, he is weighted to go well, and the distance and going is fine.
Abolitionist has some great speeds. In fact on speeds he has a big chance. He came 1st over hurdles after over 400 days off the track, and beat some nice horses. He was 3rd in the Irish National behind Our Duke, and he needs plenty of time between races. I actually wouldn't want him to win here, but thats only because i think this horse could win the Grand National. 33/1 could be a steal after today.
I am hoping the system is correct. But i think TLS is great ew value. Abolitionist is one i like for the National.
