01/06/18 The Investec Oaks 4:30 Epsom - System

1st Give And Take 14/1 - 55
2nd Perfect Clarity 15/2
2nd Bye Bye Baby 7/1 - 50
3rd Magic Wand 5/1 - 45
3rd Wild Illusion 9/4 - 45

Not the best Oaks i've seen, and not much to go on.

Give And Take won the Musidora nicely, but at present we do not know if she will get the 1m 4f, Cityscape has only had 4 offspring attempt it and all lost. Plus the soft going will have question marks. But you cannot take away her win at York and she stayed on very well suggesting maybe further will suit. And she was very professional during her race, picking up nicely.

Perfect Clarity scored well i actually quite fancy this one, won the Oak trial at Lingfield on her seasonal debut beating Flattering who was a short priced favourite. It wasn't a strong renewal but then neither was the Musidora. She showed a very professional attitude and stayed on well. Yes the description was Good-firm that day but the rain looked like it had got in and it probably not the best ground to run on. By Nathaniel she shouldn't be inconvenienced by this going.

Bye Bye Baby scored the best of the O'Brien horses, as she has done well in the mud in several of her runs, winning a couple.

Wild Illusion is a worthy favourite, but yesterday it was pointed out to me that a horse in stall one hasnt won for a very long time, my stats show at least 20 years there has not been a winner only 2 placed, and they were a favourite and 3/1 shot, another favoutie failed miserably. Stats are there to be broken though. She will like the going and is proven on it

Magic Wand has a much better stall, occupied by Enable last year and Taghrooda as well in 2014. the ground would be a worry as i think she needs firmer ground. But you can never discount a O'Brien runner

My Selection: Give And Take 14/1 (small ew on Perfect Clairty 15/2)
