20/01/18 3:15 Haydock - System
1st Rock The Kasbah 6/1 - 90
2nd Highland Lodge 20/1 - 60
3rd Fine Rightly 25/1 - 50
3rd Ptit Zig 33/1 - 50
Rock The Kasbah has a slight question mark with the going. He has only been on heavy once and came 2nd which was over hurdles, it wasnt a race of this calibre though, so its hard to tell. He goes ok on soft though, so you have to take it a bit on trust that he will go ok. His run in the Bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown in April alst year would give him a big chance in this, only beaten 2L, it was over 3f further than today, so he certainly has the stamina for this stamina sapping ground. The track will be no issue. He has been off the track for 98 days, but that for him is a good thing, with stats of 1, 2, 1, 1 after 63 days + off, so he should run well.
Highland Lodge is a grand old servent. I backed him for the National last year where he ran very well for a long time before pulling up at the last, he loves Aintree, and jumps beautifully. He has plenty of stamina. The fact he loves Aintree is good and Haydock is very similar. Personally i wouldn't want him to run to well in this as i quite fancy him again for the National, where he is 10lb lower in the handicap than last year. but on the other hand he is 12yo and a good run in this would also be encouraging. The ground is fine.
Fine Rightly has only been out the places once in ELEVEN runs on heavy. Winning 6 times! so the ground will be perfect. He is a winner at this distance on soft, and his stats at 3m+ on soft or heavy are 3, 1, 1. he could go well at a big price.
Ptit Zig has a big weight over a long distance, its a massive ask. he has never won over 2m 5 and a half furlongs, and has only placed once a 3miles and over in 6 attempts. He is certainly not for today
