 3.30 Southwell Star Ascending 7/2

Star Ascending seems to enjoy Southwell with stats of 2, 2, 3, 2, 10, 5, 7, 4, 5, 1, 2. Over todays distance it’s 2, 1, 2. Since Blinkers were applied then its 1, 2. 

These are not ground breaking stats, but I am positive his last race he possible could have won, not taking anything away from the winner who was pretty decent, but as with the winner, Star Ascending was very slow from the gate and still was gaining on the winner from a wide stall. The trainer is 1, 1, 2 this month at the track and I think he is worth a shot

3:00 Southwell Declamation 5/2

I think he has been given a chance by the handicapper here. He wasn't raised for his 2nd over C&D last time out, and since then the 3rd has gone on to place and the 5th and 6th home have gone out and won 3 between them. This is a much easier race than his last one. 2 runners were 17lb superior, both of whom he beat, in fact every horse in that race bar 1 was rated 12lb superior to him. In this race Dusty Bin and Scotch Myst are only rated 5lb higher. I would be inclined to give him another go here.

  1st Mr Vango 7/1 - 55 2nd O'Connell 7/1 - 45 2nd Nassalam 22/1 - 45   3 horses on 40 - Haiti Couleurs, Monbeg Genius and Collectors Item. Mr Vango came clear here the rest were all very close indeed.  Mr Vango is so consistent he will stay all day, he jumps well, the ground will be fine, although he would probably prefer some rain. He has never been to Chepstow, but his stats suggest the track will not be an issue. The only slight negative would be the quick turn around from his last race.  O'Connell  is very similar to Mr Vango in that he stays, the ground in his case is perfect, my only negative is in 7 attempts he has not won going left-handed and only placed once. He definitely prefers right-handed tracks. If that doesn't inconvenience him, he will have a chance. Nassalam has not been the same horse of late. Since winning this race in 2023 he has only completed a race once in 6 tries, with 5 P's next to his name. It does mean because of that he has slipped...
