1st The Last Samurai 8/1 - 45
2nd Vieux Lion Rouge 15/2 - 40
2nd Goodtoknow 12/1 - 40
2nd Blaklion 5/2 - 40
2nd Viva Steve 12/1 - 40

Not going to go into much detail. As you can see it is a tough race and over these fences anything can happen. Vieux Lion Rouge won this last year, he is 10lb higher now, but he is also 5/5 on heavy ground, so he should go well.

The Last Samurai came 16th in this years National. He likes it soft but not sure he will enjoy the heavy conditions with the weight he carries. No horse has won this race carrying more than 10st 12lbs in heavy. He carries a whole stone more.

Blaklion makes obvious appeal here. Out and out stayer who came 4th in the National this year. He is a Grade 2 winner on Heavy over 3 miles. Once again weight is an issue with 11st 6lb.

I know i am talking about weigh a lot here, and i really think in these conditions over these fences its. Horses carrying 11st 10lb + there has only been 3 and their stats are PU, PU, 5.  Which alsthough only 3, i think its a negative for The Last Samurai, so although the other stats fit, i think he will struggle. Based on this I would think Viva Steve could go well here, and is the one i am going to go with. However all the named above should go well

  1st Corach Rambler 11/2 - 85 2nd Delta Work 18/1 - 60 3rd Galia Des Liteaux 25/1 - 50 3rd Aint That A Shame 50/1 - 50 3rd Chambard 66/1 - 50 3rd Noble Yeats 16/1 - 50 (FYI 4th Vanillier & Mac Tottie 45, 5th Nassalam, Limerick Lace, Run Wild Fred 40. 6th Latenightpass, Minella Indo & Eklat De Rire 35) I kind of feel disappointed that only one horse i like got into the top here. It does contain 2 previous winners of the race and after doing the system, i will conceed that Corach Rambler has a massive chance to follow up here, however we all saw the effort he put in at Cheltenham, it blew me away and it was well reported exactly how tired he was after the race. That worries me as it wasnt that long ago, althougth everything points to another very good run.
