08/10/17 4:25 Limerick (Munster National) - System
1st Alpha Des Obeaux 15/2 - 55
2nd Slowmotion 14/1 - 50
3rd Stellar Notion 28/1 - 45
Such a close race this, which it should be.
Alpha Des Obeaux was certainly a bit of a surprise, as looking at recent form then you would probably dismiss him. However he is rated 13lb higher on his hurdle rating, but he still has it all to prove over fences, Although his run in the Irish National in April was solid. And this drop back in trip with the going will suit. He loves a track like Limerick. The booking of Davy Russell is interesting as well.
Slowmotion's age is probably against her, she is still a baby over fences, plus second top weight, but she has several things in her favour. Firstly she is 2/2 on soft, She was 2nd here in a Grade 2 Novice Chase over slightly shorter on very heavy ground. She could still have improvement over fences, and Barry Geraghty chooses her over the other 5 of McManus' runners, and i can see why. She was well beaten by Arkwrisht last time, but a mistake didn't help and they have a 7lb swing, and this course will suit her much more.
Stellar Notion has 3 PU's by his name, which is always a worry, but he was 2nd in this last year, however i should think he would want the ground to dry a bit. he would need. Intestingly, he has cheekpieces fitted for the first time, which will help him to concentrate on the task at hand. This was a horse i was on in last years, becuase of his 2nd here last year. But he struggled pretty early on in the race, and well he hasnt been the same horse since. If recapturing his old form then he could be in with a chance.
