3:55 Thirsk - Intense Style 14/1
I really like this horse, and i cannot see him running well here. My only concern, is its a 20 runner race, so he will need a lot of luck in running, but he has a good stall in 2, so he should be able to put himself where he wants, unless they come over the the rails.
So why do i like him a few reasons really.
His last win came 11 months ago over distance and Donaster, on soft ground like today. He is 1lb lower today. It was the same class as today.
His stats on soft 2, 1, 3, 3, 5. The 5th was actually over C&D 4lb higher than today, he was beaten 5L, so if he runs to that form he should go close. Plus he was in the middle of the field, so wasn't the
So all in all, IS has dropped to below his last winning mark, will like the going and as long as luck in running, has a great ew chance at least!! Naggers is clearly the one to beat though.
3:20 Thirsk - Jack Dexter 6/1
How can you ignore this old boy? Yes he is getting on now, but he finally gets his conditions!!. Everyone knows this horse is a soft/heavy ground horse.
He came last of 8 last Saturday, but it was good ground, all his wins have come with soft in the name or heavy. He is 6 wins from 11 runs on soft and only every been out the places 3 times!!. The last time he raced on soft was in a Listed race, he trailed in 12th, however it was after a break, and the last 3 times he has come back from a break, he has needed the run. Last week he needed the run. Hopefully he is fitter for that outing.
JD is 11lb lower than when he ran that race, and 10lb lower than his last win, which was on heavy ground over 6f. The drop to 5f i a slight concern only because he has only managed 1 win at that distance, albeit on soft on a much better race that this, but it was 5 years ago. Hs other attempts have all been at Group 1 & 2 levels, and it was a bit beyond him, although a 2nd in a group 2 over 5f 2 years ago, is good.
Edwar Lewis is clearly the one to beat, and could still be improving, but Jack Dexter will love the going and any more rain will only help, and there is a little bit forecast.
