This system managed to find the 12/1 winner of this last year. I remember the race well. So fingers crossed it can do well today, only issue today it that it cannot decide who it wants either. Gonalston Cloud and Straidnahanna.

Straidnahanna's connections had the winner last year, so they know what is need to win this. Straidnahanna is 2/2 at Catterick over 3m 1f and 3m 1 and a half furlong. This is further but i think it will suit on good ground. He hasn't won on good ground but as i say, the extra distance will be very helpful. He has only won 3 times, all left handed and cheekpieces have been added today. He has a grand chance.

Gonalston Cloud is also 2/2 at Catterick, and won nicely over 3m 3f last time out with headgear applied. Headgear stays on again, but this horse was obviously born a chaser 4 wins from 8 since chasing and he is certainly a stayer. Has to improve again, but certainly no reason why not.

Harry The Viking has shot up 7lb for his win in the Scottish National. Conditions are perfect for him, and he should go well.

Scotswell won this in 2015, and he is 1lb better off today, although he is getting on, he ran well last tie out and although im not convinced will win, he could go well.

I cannot pick between the top 2, so i am doing both

  1st Mr Vango 7/1 - 55 2nd O'Connell 7/1 - 45 2nd Nassalam 22/1 - 45   3 horses on 40 - Haiti Couleurs, Monbeg Genius and Collectors Item. Mr Vango came clear here the rest were all very close indeed.  Mr Vango is so consistent he will stay all day, he jumps well, the ground will be fine, although he would probably prefer some rain. He has never been to Chepstow, but his stats suggest the track will not be an issue. The only slight negative would be the quick turn around from his last race.  O'Connell  is very similar to Mr Vango in that he stays, the ground in his case is perfect, my only negative is in 7 attempts he has not won going left-handed and only placed once. He definitely prefers right-handed tracks. If that doesn't inconvenience him, he will have a chance. Nassalam has not been the same horse of late. Since winning this race in 2023 he has only completed a race once in 6 tries, with 5 P's next to his name. It does mean because of that he has slipped...
