I am on Unioniste in this, after his trainers glowing comments, and the fact that Nick Schofield has chosen to ride him, over going elsewhere. Unioniste has been aimed at this race, and the going should be ok over this extra distance.

Mountainous has won this race twice now, but i would be worried that the race will not be the slog it normally is. However his trainer will have him ready and she knows how to train a winner of this race. He is approaching 12 though, and this is a big ask for him to win again.

Emperors Choice is an old favourite of mine, he won this 2 years ago. I think he is another who would excel in a good old slog.

Onenightinvienna could be a worthy bet here. He was doing pretty well in the Grand National, jumping well, and upside Unioniste, but i think he got carried out the way by another horse and lost his jockey. He is certainy made for distances like this, and won well coming back from his summer holidays, and has a chance.

  1st Mr Vango 7/1 - 55 2nd O'Connell 7/1 - 45 2nd Nassalam 22/1 - 45   3 horses on 40 - Haiti Couleurs, Monbeg Genius and Collectors Item. Mr Vango came clear here the rest were all very close indeed.  Mr Vango is so consistent he will stay all day, he jumps well, the ground will be fine, although he would probably prefer some rain. He has never been to Chepstow, but his stats suggest the track will not be an issue. The only slight negative would be the quick turn around from his last race.  O'Connell  is very similar to Mr Vango in that he stays, the ground in his case is perfect, my only negative is in 7 attempts he has not won going left-handed and only placed once. He definitely prefers right-handed tracks. If that doesn't inconvenience him, he will have a chance. Nassalam has not been the same horse of late. Since winning this race in 2023 he has only completed a race once in 6 tries, with 5 P's next to his name. It does mean because of that he has slipped...
