Newmarket 16/8/13

Newmaket selections in more detail

17:25 -  Turftv Median Auction Maiden Stakes

Starts of with a lovely Maiden, you can literally put a pin in it. There is no predicting what will happen. Personally i go with a horse that has had a previous race. Most horses tend to come on from their first race. The best of those are INCHILA and Rosehill Artist, i went with Inchila, last race was a Class 2, and she had a awful time of it, hampered on several  occasions, and although had no chance of catching the winner,  managed 2nd. Where as Rosehill Artist was unplaced in a Class 4, and ran very green, so is entitled to improve on that. Of the unraced ones Irish Tears is going to a danger Gosden/Buick combo should not be ignored.
My prediction
1st Inchila
2nd Irish Tears
3rd Rosehill Artist

18:00 -  Talk Night Club Southend Handicap (Jockey Club Grassroots Sprint Series Qualifier)
L’Ami Louis looks the horse for me here. 2 months off when coming back to come 5th over C&D, only beaten 1 1/4L. If needing the run he should be bang on today. Dropping in class too, which might help. It is another tough race though as there are several in this race with chances. But L’ami Louis course record is 3, 3, 2, 5. The 2 &5 are over todays distance.
1st L’Ami Louis 5/1
2nd Excuse To Linger 5/1
3rd Hadaj 6/1

18:30 -  Honey Trap At Talk Night Club E.b.f. Maiden Stakes
Another Maiden, albeit a more competitive one. Rock N Roll Star and Sudden Wonder are by far the best of the ones who have already run. I have gone for SUDDEN WONDER, he is a colt by New Approach, so the step up to 1m will suit perfectly. And New Approach liked it at Newmarket, (uneaten there). Of the newcomers Munjaz is the horse i think i might fear the most. Sire is Sea The Stars and the mare is a out of Zafonic. So very impressive lineage, and if any horse could win first time out it would be this horse.
1st Sudden Wonder
2nd Munjaz
3rd Rock N Roll Star

19:00 -  Maritime Cargo Services Handicap

Capella’s Song is my choice, but only just. I did like Junket, but dropping in class means she is giving weight all round, and due to Capella’s Song coming a close 4th to Willow Beck last time out, means that i think the form is slightly better, and she hasn’t gone up in the handicap for that. So i expect her to go well.
1st Capella’s Song 7/2
2nd Junket 11/4
3rd Enriching 7/1

19:35 -  Piper-heidsieck Handicap
Nautilus impressed me on his handicap debut when he was 2nd to Nimiety, so that is why i fancy him to win in his 2nd Handicap race. But he does have several others that have great chances too.  Petrify and Giantstepsahead are among the main ones
1st Nautilus 9/4
2nd Petrify 4/1
3rd Giantstepsahead 6/1

20:05 -  Piper-heidsieck Fillies' Handicap
Malekat Jamal is the fancied and is seeking his 3rd win in a row, but he is carrying 13lb more in weight plus 2lb more in the handicap than that race, although it is a step down in class. Where as Ghanaian might of found 1m just a bit too much, so the step down to 7f, will play into his hands and could be hard to beat, he also has improvement in him. I was impressed with his first run back as a 3yo too.
1st Ghanaian 7/4
2nd Malekat Jamal 9/4
3rd Diamond Belle 9/1
