Parbold

3:40 Goodwood - Parbold 2/1 (nap)

I remember reading a while back about this horse. Richard Fahey said it was probably the best 2yo he has had. So i have followed his career (or 2 runs) since. His first time out it was on soft ground, and he won, the 2nd time was at Royal Ascot in the Coventry. I watched his run. he was travelling very sweetly, and when asked for an effort, the gap in front closed up. He went right to find a gap, and so did some others. Lanark went into him and pushed him in another horse, by then War Command was going up on the outside with no traffic problems. By the time Parbold had pushed himself through the traffic, War Command had a 4L lead and had momentum, Parbold was gaining momentum but it was too late. And if it had been an extra furlong, i do believe Parbold would of caught him. So here we are today, Toormore is favourite to take this, and the Hannons have won the last 3 runnings of it. But this extra step up will do the world of good to Parbold, and he is slightly more experienced than Toormore, plus the smaller field there will not be the traffic issues.

4:35 Perth - Scotch Warrior 5/1 e/w - £41.25

3 out of 3 over C&D, only 4lb higher in the handicap since his last win here over C&D, and he won that by 5L. Castlelawn is the obvious danger, but he might have a battle for the lead, which just play into Scotch Warriors Hands. My only worry is the ground is good-soft, good in places, with rain forecast tonight, Mainly because he seems to go much better on good ground or firmer. We will not want it soft. The good news is, it's forecast nice lovely sunshine tomorrow at Perth, so am hoping it will dry out enough for Scotch Warrior. I have advised e/w just in case the ground gets worse and we need a saver, but i can see him winning this.

1:55 Goodwood - Broxbourne 8/1 e/w (ladbrokes) - £60

There will be no surprises to those who follow me that i picked out Broxbourne. She was impressive at the weekend wasn't she? She is shaping into an out and out stayer, and the extra distance here could work out well. She seems to be improving all the time on the turf. Lieutenant Miller looks to have a good chance in this race, however, and he beat Broxbourne by 1 1/4L at Doncaster, today Lieutenant Miller is up 9lb in the Handicap since that race, whilst Broxbourne is  up 6lb, that could be all she needs to reverse the placings this time out. My system threw up Beyond in this race at 12/1, hoping Cheek  Pieces will help sharpen the horse up.

2:40 Redcar - Iptisam 3/1 (PP)
