System Picks Ascot Day 4

2:30 Albany Stakes

1st Lucky Kristale 20/1
2nd Rasheeda 20/1
3rd Wedding Ring 14/1
4th Sandiva 11/4

Well i am hoping Joyeuse wins this, as i have her at 25/1 for next years 1000 Guineas. Very impressed with her first win, Queally asked the question and she accelerated very impressively. And i know Sir Henry was very keen on this filly, and not just because she is Frankel's half sister. She showed plenty of speed and she will come on from the run.

The system works on several factors, so horses that have won over distance, on ground type, score higher, than those that have won on other types of ground. It's harder to predict these 2 year old races as they do not have the experience

3:05 King Edward VII

1st Mutashaded 8/1 - 85
2nd Battle Of Marendo 8/11 - 80
3rd Tha'ir 14/1 - 60
4th Contributer 11/1 - 30

Do i think the odds on favourite can be beaten. Yes. He certainly sets a high standard, but i actually quite like Tha'ir. I was worried about the step up in distance but he was running on in his last race when beaten a short head by Hoarding, they were 7L clear of the rest, and Saeed Bin Suroor thinks the step up in distance will suit. Plus the fact that his sire has had 3 runners at Ascot and all 3 have won, that is including Tha'ir and Dawn Approach on Tuesday. He has 3 runners at Ascot today, so could increase that. Mutashaded is an interesting one, the step up in class is big, but he has potential.

Contributer came 2nd to the Irish 2000gns winner and this step up should suit, but Magician hasn't really franked the form

3:45 Coronation Stakes

1st Lovely Pass 25/1 - 70
2nd Just The Judge 11/4 - 65
3rd Ollie Olga 66/1 - 50
3rd Sky Lantern 9/2 - 50
4th Pavlosk 8/1 - 40

What a race to sort through, to start with you have 3 1000 guineas winners in Just The Judge (Irish Guineas) Sky Lantern (English Guineas) and Lovely Pass (UAE Gunieas - albeit a Listed race there) Lovely Pass is a horse i like and follow, she will love the ground, in fact the drier the better for her. However there are some horses that haven't made the list, Big Break, Viztoria and a horse i backed ante post for the 1000 Guineas but she didn't run. Purr Along. Purr Along can within a short head to beating Certify, in a Group 2. And to me that takes some doing, she is currently 33/1 but i am concerned she hasn't run for 257 days. And might need the run before being competitive. I am going to go with Lovely Pass at 25/1, but i like most of these

4:25 Wolferton

1st Albasharah 9/2 - 70
2nd Ocean War 16/1 - 60
3rd Labarinto 12/1 - 40

Albasharah was very impressive on return, winning by 8L and looks the one to beat. Labarinto could be a danger and so could Dick Doughtywylie who was not far behind Al Kazeem.

5:00 Queens Vase

1st Landing Light 2/1 - 55
2nd Disclaimer 4/1 - 30
3rd Baihas 20/1 - 20
4th Dashing Star 20/1 - 15

It would be lovely to see Disclaimer win this, as this race will be run in memory of Sir Henry Cecil, and there is no reason why he cannot. Landing Light also has obvious claims. I am going to go with Disclaimer as sure to appreciate the step up in distance. Baihas is interesting as will easily get the distance.

5:35 Buckingham Palace Stakes

1st Mezzotint 25/1 - 40
2nd Baccarat 16/1 - 30
3rd Dubawi Sound 33/1 - 20
3rd Emilio Largo 9/1 - 20
3rd Jamesie 16/1 - 20

Enrol is not in the top 3 which is surprising as the step back up to 7f will suit, Mezzotint is closely matched and could be thereabouts. But the horse i like is Emilio Largo, once trained by Sir Henry, very popular at his new stable and they have high hopes. Did well on comeback and the step up will suit. He is 2/2 on 7f G-F
