Cheltenham Tips 14/3/13

I wish David
Pipe would make up his mind on Dynaste, but it looks likely he will skip the
RSA and go for this instead (Goulanes has been entered for the RSA) it doesn’t
matter really for me because Captain Conan is the horse for me. The horse
is a monster, and although he only won by a neck last time out, it was because
the ground was very heavy and he was tired, it was the furthest he had gone in
a race, the 1f drop in distance and soft ground will work well and i think
Dynaste will struggle against him, but should grab a place.
Willie Mullins
has a awesome strike rate in this and Boston Bob will come here with a great
chance.. Be a very good race though.
Just a should
for Module as well 6/1 and could be thereabouts

There is a buzz
going around about a horse called Sam Winner, Paul Nicholls has told people that
this horse should win, and all the professionals jockeys are going mad about
him too. Not sure why exactly, but it could be his 4th behind
Zarakander, a couple of years ago, or his beating of Grandouet in a Grade 2, 3
years ago. He is lightly raced the last 2 years, but his beating of Peddlers
Cross last time out in a Bumper looks very promising. And i will be backing it
to win.
Shutthefrontdoor is the obvious danger and i quite fancy Seymour Eric
to improve and be placed after 4 wins on the bounce.

Cue Card comes here on the success of the Ascot Chase, beaten Captain Chris by
6l, he was supposed to run in the Queen Mother, but didn’t want to go up
against Sprinter Sacre. Riverside Theatre was last years winner and
Nicky Henderson reports that they found some blister, which he was getting because
he was stressed, its all sorted now, and this horse goes very well fresh.
Sizing Europe has been in cracking form, at the age of 11 you would think he would
be slowing down, but his form is as good as it was when he was 6, last 5 races
he has won, however i think he faces slightly better opposition than late and
although it will be tough, i should think he would give a good account of
himself. Menorah
has always been consistant, however a 34l thrashing by Cue Card, i cannot see
him reversing that this time.
Champion Court has a chance, so connections says. And he is consistant too, but he
hasn’t won a race for over a year, and is always the bridesmaid. Could be in
the places again

15:20 Ladbrokes World Hurdle
Wonderful Charm was in the Coral Cup, but if they get better ground then this is where
they will go. I picked up on this horse a while back, and backed it for the
World Hurdle at 25/1, as i read that Paul Nicholls thinks this horse is special
and the only reason he wouldn’t run in the World Hurdle is because he was 5 and
he could wait another year. But he could win the World Hurdle. I hope it’s true
because i have him.
Barry Geraghty
likes Oscar
Whiskey and thinks the distance will be no problem, i know there are
doubters, but i agree, and i think he will surprise a lot of doubters. Reve De Sivola
is a very good horse but i think he will be fighting for the place here.

Well the stats
show a Venetia Williams 1 – 2 – 3, and it doesn’t even include her big hope in
this. But at nice prices so could be e/w chances. I however have concentrated only
on the top 3, although a special mention goes out to Easter Meteor who at 20/1 could
scrape the places, i do like the horse, but i really think it will be the first
3 in the betting.
Hunt Balls connection say they have something up their sleeve, not sure what it
would be but even at top weight i would give him a place chance. He is very
gutsy as his previous season showed. Ballynagour
has a great chance and is a worthy favourite, but i think Hunt Ball and my main
choice Vino
Griego are the ones to beat. Vino Griego has just been getting
better and better, and he will enjoy the ground, i cannot see him finishing his
losing streak in this, and i think 12/1 is a bit high.
Stats TNT

Griego 12/1

Super Duty was only beaten a head by Goulanes last time out in a Grade 2 over
todays distance, ,y only worry is that he will be carrying the most he has ever
carried. But that form last time out is good, and he will take a bit of
beating. However Lost Glory is interesting here, he will enjoy the soft
ground and the extra furlong and could make it a treble.
Relax is a nice horse, big and strong, and i think he could have a good e/w
chance here. His form was franked recently, when Do It For Dalkey won. Ticks
all the right boxes. Richards Sundance might be one to watch, but
Relax meets him on better terms when he was beaten 5l, he is 11lb better off in
the weights than when they met last.
