Straight From The Horses’ Mouth

Godolphin
2:25 Newmarket – Lovely Pass 10/1
Lovely Pass had a little blow out on Wednesday morning and she looks well at the moment. She ran a good race at Royal Ascot and Silvestre De Sousa felt that he might have hit the front too soon. He knows the filly well now and I hope that she can run another good race.
3:00 Newmarket – Irish History 28/1
Irish History has improved a little bit since Royal Ascot, when she was a little green. She is still learning in her races but she has shown in her work in the mornings that she is a good filly. This is obviously a very tough race but she deserves to take her chance and we will know more about her ability afterwards.

Roger Varian
1:20 Newmarket – Perfect Step 3/1
She has run well on soft and good to soft this year but I think she will be a better horse on better ground. She has been training nicely and I am hopeful of a good run.
4:20 York – Steps 11/2
He is in good form and the trip and soft ground will suit him. We have put blinkers on him to help him concerntrate

Brian Meehan
DIAMONDHEAD (Newmarket 1.50 p.m.) Course winner last year, he missed his intended seasonal return at Sandown when conditions deteriorated last weekend. This if anything is an even stronger affair and he may just need the outing.
FANTACISE (Newmarket 2.25 p.m.) Pivotal filly followed a couple of promising efforts with an emphatic success in first-time blinkers at Pontefract. They are employed again, and she may not be far away in this strongly-contested Group 2.
BAIRAM (Chester 8.40 p.m.) Haatef gelding has made the frame in all three starts, showing similar form each time. Does not took badly treated in this first try at handicapping, and as he goes in the ground, must hold a decent chance of an initial victory.

Richard Fahey
1:20 Newmarket – Nemushka 28/1
Nemushka goes in the Piper-Heidsieck E.B.F. Fillies' Handicap and she has been very disappointing I am afraid. We liked her a lot last year but is quite a timid filly and needs to bounce right back. She has been working well at home but as I said, has been disappointing
1:50 Newmarket – Gatepost 20/1
Gatepost has his first run for the yard in the Betfred 'The Bonus King' Heritage Handicap at Newmarket. We've only had him for three weeks and to be fair to Mick (Channon) he told us all about him. He warned us he's a bit buzzy and we're happy with how the horse has settled in. He's worked a couple of times and it went fine but whether he's competitive enough to win off 95 we don't know yet. Mick said he just lost his way and advised Marwan to send him to us and we'll see what happens. It's a fact-finding mission.
2:05 York – Montcliffe SP
Montcliffe is our first runner at York in the Cakemark E.B.F. Maiden Stakes. He ran okay to finish fourth at Hamilton first time and the seven furlongs will suit him here. The ground has to be a worry given the weather forecast but he should handle it and I think he has a chance. He looks to have Miss You Too to beat but will improve for his debut.
2:35 York -  Soiux Rising 25/1
Sioux Rising is in foal and we're hoping to get a bit more black type in the tyregiant.com Summer Stakes. Realistically I'd be surprised if she could win this but we're happy with her and anything can happen in this ground, which she'll love. She has to step up on what she's done before to win this and a place may be the best we can hope for but we'll handle the testing ground which is a definite plus.
3:00 Newmarket – Barefoot Lady 40/1
Barefoot Lady heads down to Newmarket for the Etihad Airways Falmouth Stakes. I'd love to find a small race for her somewhere, there was a listed race at Pontefract the other day but the ground was so bad I daren't go there. So the poor lass ends up running in another Group One and she'll probably be the outsider of the lot. I hope they go flat out and it turns into a grind as she never wants for trying. If she could finish in the three it would be magic and she's always on your side, she's a tough filly.
17:30 York – Personal Touch 4/1 & Dakota Canyon 9/1
I'd love to see Personal Touch win for his owner Nicholas Wrigley and he looks to have Dutch Rose to beat. We're stepping him back up in trip, he was second over five furlongs, and this trip will suit him better. He'll love the ground too.
Dakota Canyon is a lovely horse who will be winning races but I fear he might just need the run on his reappearance. I'd be a little surprised if he finished in front of Personal Touch as he's still a little green but he's a horse with a future and Eireann Cagney, who works for us, will be having his first ride aboard him.
3:45 York – Bridal Belle 15/2
I felt very sorry for Bridle Belle at York the last day, without Qahriman in the field she'd have won by five lengths and she returns there for the Caravan Chairman's Charity Cup Handicap. She's a very genuine filly with a great draw and she deserves to win a race. I hope she runs a big one for Norman Steel and she's my Sky Bet charity bet this time.

Ryan Moore

13:20
Illaunaglass

I was on board for this filly's debut win and her good subsequent third in the Albany at the Royal meeting. But her form tailed off after that in her next two starts, and I don't know why. In fact, I can't tell you too much about her to be honest, other than she was pulled out of her intended engagement at Royal Ascot on the day. If she comes back to the Albany form, she has a chance, but she looks pretty harshly handicapped to me off 99 on what she has shown so far, and has her stamina to prove too, after disappointing in the Sweet Solera over course and distance. If you ask me, it is asking a lot for her to win this off top weight after a lengthy lay off, but I hope I am wrong.

13:50
Chunky Diamond

Although he hasn't run that badly in his two starts this season, the fact that he hasn't beaten a horse home tells its own story. And he doesn't appear to be that well handicapped on his best juvenile form, a second in a Doncaster listed race, either. I'd say I am up against it here. May not like the soft ground, too.

14:25
City Image

Followed up her soft ground Windsor win over 5f with an impressive defeat of Sandreamer, who re-opposes here, over this trip in a listed race on fast ground on the Rowley course last time. There wouldn't appear to be much between her and Richard's other runner, Maureen, who also impressed me first time out at Newbury. But, again, this looks a hot juvenile race, with Albany runner-up Agent Allison, and Sendmylovetorose, probably setting the form standard, the latter on her Group 3 win at the Curragh.

15:00
Maybe

This is probably the hottest Falmouth Stakes I can remember, and Golden Lilac will prove very hard to beat. She is a horse I have always rated and her Prix d'Ispahan win didn't surprise me at all. And, apart from her, we have the first three home in the Windsor Forest, as well as the Boussac winner Elusive Kate, Alanza and Giofra. In a normal Falmouth, I would be fancying my chances on Maybe, who I rode to win the Chesham last season. The ground was probably against her in the Guineas and the trip was probably too far for her in the Oaks. But the older fillies look a strong bunch this year, don't they?

15:35
Evangelist

He is by Oasis Dream out of a mare who I rode to win over 7f at two, and who went on to win a Park Hill. He goes OK at home but I would have said he will need the experience here in this big field.

16:10
Leo Luna

Is very well-related from the family of Workforce and a half-brother to the likes of Sea Moon. Has taken a while to get the hang of what is required of him at home but he is slowly beginning to do the right things. I have seen stronger maidens at this meeting but my mount will need the experience of a race.

17:20
Jack's Revenge

Hughesy gave him a great ride to get him home by a neck at Windsor last time, and in the circumstances a 3lb rise looks fair. Has disappointed on the soft in the past but there was cut in the ground at Windsor, so hopefully the going won't be an issue. The opposition may be though, as there are some likely, unexposed ones in here.
