Straight From The Horses’ Mouth

Roger Varian
14:20 Newmarket – Go Dutch 5/1
Go Dutch will contest a mile handicap at Newmarket. The son of Dutch Art made a pleasing return when fourth at Doncaster and should be suited by the step up in trip.
14:00 Chester – Jaaryah 12/1
At Chester, Jaaryah drops down in class when she tackles a 1m4f handicap. The daughter of Halling, now four, is lightly raced but has not won since her debut win as a two-year-old.

Michael Bell
18:30 Windsor – Spiritual Girl
SPIRITUAL GIRL seems to have thrived since her third at Lingfield.
Hayley Turners view - She showed a lot of speed on her debut at Lingfield a fortnight ago and that run will have done her a lot of good. It’s obviously difficult to rate her chance given the nature of the race, but you’d think she’d be in with a shout.

Brian Meehan
13:45 Newmarket – King Dragon
Iffraaj gelding has shaped nicely on the home gallops but will probably benefit from this debut experience.
14:20 Newmarket – Right Divine 25/1 & Nelsons Bay 16/1
Right Divine - Redcar maiden winner last autumn returns after a four-month break since running unplaced on the Kempton Polytrack. Will almost certainly improve for the outing.
Nelsons Bay - Ran on strongly in the last furlong from the rear to snatch third close home at Haydock. Should go well again from the same mark, although if the ground were to deteriorate it would mitigate against his chances.
16:35 Newmarket – Index Waiter
Exceed and Excel colt made a promising debut despite exhibiting greenness at Haydock. He will know more about it now and can be competitive.
17:10 Newmarket – Boragh Waters
Three year old filly has been well beaten both starts, but continues to work with promise at home. A big step forward is anticipated for this third run, if not enough to challenge for top spot, but she will be handicapped afterwards and that’s when she should be more competitive.

Richard Fahey
14:05 Doncaster – Chapter Seven 16/1
He won in soft ground at Musselburgh so the more rain the better for him. I was a little bit disappointed with him the other day at Haydock, though he did get knocked over, he looked as if he was going to be fourth or fifth. It looks a competitive little race, there's a couple of highly touted horses in there and if he finished placed I'd be delighted.
14:35 Chester – Viva Ronaldo 14/1 and Kallachy Star 7/1
The 12 slot probably won't suit Viva, he got himself way back out of the race and came home when it was all over last time so the wide berth won't help him. Kyllachy Star loves the track, ran okay there at the May Meeting and on the draws I'd have to go for him out of my two.
14:40 Doncaster – Grey Street
she's quite a nice filly, I like her, but I'm just a bit worried the draw isn't where we want to be. She will improve for the run so I would be a little bit surprised if she could win first time up but we'll see what happens.
15:10 Chester – Area Fifty One 14/1,  Las Verglas Star 25/1, Calef 14/1
Area Fifty One is a real nice horse but I would be worried if we had more rain as he loves fast ground. It's not a great race for a £50,000 handicap and out of my three I would have to go with Area Fifty One, but if the ground got soft I would be worried. Las Verglas Star has been very disappointing this year, though the handicapper has given him a bit of a chance. He's just not been firing for some reason, I'm happy enough with him at home, we just need to see more on the track. Calaf has been in good form but that's as good as he is. I've put George Chaloner on him to take 7lbs off, that should help him. He likes the track too.
15:45 Doncaster - Lord Aeryn 6/1
The trip, ground, track - everything - will suit Lord Aeryn in the freebets.co.uk Free Bets Handicap, he's just got to go there and do it now. I was a fraction disappointed with him at the backend of last year but he ran alright first time and if he's back to his best then he'd have a good chance. The ground won't be an issue with him.
16:15 Chester – Jedward
I'm a little bit worried about Jedward getting the trip in the Tsingtao Chinese Beer Classified Claiming Stakes. Dr Marwan Koukash was keen to run her in this race but the distance is a little bit of an unknown. She has a chance at the weights, it' s just whether she stays. Any more rain would be fine for her.
17:25 Chester – Goldenveil  11/1
Goldenveil ran a little bit keen in first-time blinkers the other day, but they did help her and she ran a little bit better than where she finished so I'm keeping them on. All being well she'll run a half-decent race in the Halewood International Fillies' Handicap as she is well handicapped on her old form.
16:00 Newmarket – High Office 12/1
I'm delighted with High Office, he's as high as he wants to be but the Fly London Southend To Dublin Levy Board Handicap is a £50,000 race and I'm happy to have a stab at it. If he runs to the mark he did at York he'd have a chance. He's a horse that doesn't win many races but always runs well, it will be interesting to see how he gets on. We're very happy with him he's in good order.
20:15 Newcastle – Cosmic Moon 8/1
Cosmic Moon had a terrible draw at Redcar the other day, she ran a lot better than where she finished. If she'd been drawn low she would definitely have been placed. She's down to a real low mark in the Blue Riband so she does have a chance .

Robert Cowell
19:30 Windsor – Cardinal 8/1
Cardinal relishes the soft ground

Alan King
14:00 Chester  - Reyamour 13/2
Like everywhere else, Chester has had its share of rain these past few days, so the ground will be soft. However, Reyamour ran well in the mud on several occasions when she was trained in France, and I don't think conditions will be a problem.
"She did really well to win her maiden at Salisbury last time, when the ground was also on the easy side, and I can't complain about a mark of 80 for her first handicap, so we will give it a go and then put her away for a break before she goes hurdling in the autumn."

Luca Cumani
16:00 Newmarket – Spifer 9/2
would have been a fancy of ours at Newmarket had he not been drawn in stall 16. We were hoping for a middle draw so he could be buried in midfield and then be produced between horses but the prospect of being on the outside all the way given his tendency to go left doesn’t augur well. Hopefully we’ll be proved wrong and he can show that he has grown up since last year.
20:30 Windsor – Twelve Strings 7/2
is our main chance at Windsor on Saturday stepped up to 1m2f

Hayley Turner (jockey)
19:00 Windsor – Efistorm SP
I think he’ll run a big race. He’s won three times over the course and distance, will appreciate a drop in class, and won’t mind a bit of juice in the ground either.
19:30 Windsor – Hinton Admiral 20/1
Hinton Admiral is a winner of 16 races, and I think the drop back in trip for this six-furlong handicap will certainly work in his favour

James Millman (jockey to Rod Millman)
 15:30 Newmarket - Shavansky 12/1
Old boy ran well whn 2nd on AW last time but 6lb higher bk on grass. Hpe its not 2 soft as 10f  Stretches him but hpefully a few NRs + place chances nonetheless
 21:00 Windsor - Madame Kintyre 7/1
MKIntyre goes in the 9.00 at Wind. Ran well last time + coming in2 Form, blks bk on + ew chance but she is better in small fields so plenty of NRs.

Ryan Moore (jockey)
18:30 Windsor - Botanica 6/1
I haven't got anything useful to say about this newcomer because I know nothing about her. But her sire Clodovil was suited by cut, so let's hope she follows suit. But this will be really testing ground for two-year-olds. Richard's juveniles know their job, obviously, but I am presumably on the second string here on what they have shown at home.
19:30 Windsor - Emiratesdotcom 10/1
I rode him when he finished a decent second in the soft at Windsor last month, and he ran well at Ascot next time too. Didn't run as well on better ground at Goodwood last time, but I think we can expect testing conditions here and that is of obvious help to his chances.
20:00 Windsor - Modern Tutor 12/1
Clearly ran very disappointingly on his debut at Newbury but I would be inclined to forgive him that as a little problem came to light afterwards and he is much better than he showed there. But, having been beaten a distance, he will need to be to take a hand in the finish here.
20:30 Windsor - Platiski 12/1
If anyone thinks this is a bit of a "plot horse" first time up in a handicap then I think they should maybe think again, as I don't think he is particularly well treated off 67 on what he has shown so far. But he is bred to be better than that kind of mark and there was certainly more promise in his Newmarket run last time. Let's hope he can start to progress now he is handicapping. Perhaps the first time visor will help too, but I am not sure. And soft ground would worry me, too.
 13:45 Newmarket - Meridius 11/1
I haven't sat on him, so I can't tell you anything about him. But a look at his breeding suggests that he may want further than 6f, being an Invincible Spirit half-brother to the likes of Stotsfold. Fraserburgh and Tipping Over set a decent level of form for the newcomers, of whom Richard Hannon's Ask Dad looks a particularly likely and interesting type on pedigree.
14:20 Newmarket - Fast Or Free 8/1
I rode in the 7f maiden that Fast Or Free won at Kempton, and I thought he did it quite well. Plenty of speed in his pedigree but, by Notnowcato, the step up in trip should suit and is clearly open to plenty of improvement. A mark of 80 isn't overly-generous but he appears to have a lot going for him all the same.
14:55 Newmarket - High Standing 25/1
Is on a decent mark if returning to his fast ground of form last season, but his chances certainly wouldn't be improved by any significant rain in my opinion, although he has won on soft in the past. You can excuse him his run at Chester last time as he was drawn on the outside and he ran ok for me at Newmarket the time before. But there are others in here with far stronger claims, particularly Pearl Ice who is due to run under a 6lb penalty after winning at Ripon on Wednesday.
15:30 Newmarket - Trade Comissioner 2/1
I think Landaman is probably one of the best handicapped horses in the country at the moment - even upped 8lb since his last win - but he looks like a non-runner now the ground has turned soft. I liked my horse anyway. He impressed me when he won at Sandown - I was on Lucanin in fourth and the winner did it comfortably - and I think a mark of 86 could be ok. Has clearly had his problems but hopefully those are behind him. Really well bred too, being by Montjeu out of Spinning Queen.
16:00 Newmarket - High Jinx 9/2
I don't know a lot about him other than what I look at in the form book. Won a maiden over this trip and hopefully he will have improved for the run and the step back up in trip after finishing fourth at Doncaster on his reappearance.
