Straight From the Horses Mouth 31/5/12

Godolphin
Mahmood Al Zarooni
19:20 Sandown – Opinion Poll 13/8
Opinion Poll worked well on Sunday and he showed that he is in good form, His main aim is the Gold Cup (at Ascot on June 21) but I think that he will run a good race at Sandown. He is very professional nowadays. He is also very relaxed in everything that he does. I am very happy with him.

Saeed bin Suroor
19:20 Sandown -  Ley Hunter 8/1
Ley Hunter is doing well at the moment. I have been pleased with his work and he is ready to run
19:55 Sandown - Hunter’s Light 9/1
Hunter’s Light looks a better horse this year physically and I have been happy with him recently. He didn’t handle the course at Chester and Sandown should suit him better.

Brian Meehan
19:20 Sandown -  Aaim To Prosper 25/1
Our 2010 Cesarewitch hero is now entrenched as a group-race performer. Fourth in this last year, he was nosed out of a Listed race over course and distance in July before finishing close in the Goodwood Cup. May be a little under-cooked for this first run since, but loves the track and is sure to run a top race.
20:25 Sandown – Cogito 10/1
Impressive maiden winner at Newmarket last month. He takes a big step up in class here, and while at an experience disadvantage with most, deserves his shot at this level.

Mark Ball – LetsLiveRacing
19:35 Wetherby – Pistol Basc 10/1
Pistol Basc runs at his favourite track, Wetherby, tomorrow with Lucy Alexander riding. They get on well so hope he runs well for the owners
Marcus Tregoning
19:20 Sandown – Askar Tau 12/1
Askar Tau is fit and well for his seasonal reappearance, in what looks a decent renewal of the race. He built up a good rapport with George Baker last year and will be well suited by the prevailing ground.

Eve Johnson Houghton
18:15 Sandown - Golden Waters 16/1
Golden Waters runs at Sandown tomorrow night and unlike everyone else we are hoping it doesn’t rain as she loves fast ground.

Luca Cumani

19:20 Sandown - Ibicenco 8/1
Ibicenco was disappointing (last race) but the ground on the round course was a fair bit softer than the straight and given how poorly he travelled it clearly didn’t suit. Interestingly, he picked up on the better ground in the straight once Kieren had virtually given up on him to be nearest at the finish, so it’s Sandown for him next week in the Henry II Stakes where the longer trip will suit him very well
