Top Tips 18/7/13

Neil Callan on Excel's Beauty

3 main tips today plus 2 patents

3:30 Hamilton - High Resolution 12/1 e/w (only pays 2 places)

Keith Dalgleish has 2 good chances in this with Corton Lad and Argaki, it was Argaki who got me looking into the race in more detail. Looking into this Corton Lad has beaten Argaki over C&D and and both have gone up in weight and in the handicap, but Argaki has gone up 6lb in the Handicap and CL has gone up 10lb in the handicap. Whilst looking at Argaki, High Resolution caught my eye. Mainly because Argaki beat him by 3L last time out. But looking at the difference. Argaki carried 7lb 11 in the weights. and now carries 17lb more plus he is 6lb higher in the handicap. HR hasn't gone up in the handicap and HR is carrying 6lb more in the weights. If you add it all together Argaki has 23lb more on his back whilst HR has just 6lb more. To me that's a big difference and can change the outcome.

Lord Franklin looks interesting, but he is up 7lb for his last win and that was in a class 6 race, today he is in a class 4. he will have to raise his game. Dhaular Dhar could go well again carrying bottom weight but with Graham Lee on board

4:55 Killarney - Takeyourcapoff 13/2

Geraghty only has this ride, everything looks in his favour, and after his run at the Curragh on the flat. He has every chance based on that run.

6:10 Epsom - Epsom Salts 4/1 (nap)

Won this race last year. and is 7lb lower in the handicap. also carrying 7lb less in the weights. Same jockey rode him that day too. The horse has been aimed at this race, he is an Epsom specialist too. Cheek Pieces are added today for the 2nd time ever. So might spark him up. Another thing to point out is that, his form of late as been poor at best, but if you look back to the run up to this race last time, the same could be said then too. In fact it looks like they have been running him less than suitable races. So he comes primed for this. And if you look back at this race last year, they went off at quite a gallop, and although the jockey was always working hard on him, he seemed to do it all in his own time. Came round Tattenham Corner much better than the others. The adding of Jakeys Girl by Phelan suggest that she will ensure there is a good gallop, because small fields tend to lack the pace, also she wears a visor for the first time. Tapis Libre looks like the main danger along with Sky Kahn.  Tapis Libre is in much better shape and although this is not a strong field Tapis Libre is stepping up in class and has an extra 5lb to carry, coupled with the fact he only won by 3/4L last time out.
